WE CREATED A MUSICAL!!!

The school holiday programme is always fun and January 2026 was no exception.

This time we took it to the next level – Together, we created a musical!

The holiday programme was run over three days and at the start of day one, Larissa

told us that we were all going to be putting our ideas together, creating our very own

musical.

Firstly, we had to come up with themes, locations, characters, and colours. These

were then written on post it notes and placed in a big bucket.

The big kids, who were directing it, then had to take all our ideas, go away and put

them together, matching them with the music, and then come back and explain to us

all, how it was going to play out.

The story began in Australia, where the bush fires had just had a devastating impact

on our precious and beautiful wildlife. From there, we travelled to Mermaid Land and

onto Antarctica, then New York and ending in the Mystical Forest. Along the way we

had to collect four keys, one in each land, which would unlock the chest that had the

solution to climate change.

The musical ran for about 10-12 minutes. We danced our way to ‘NYC’, ‘Let it go’

from Frozen, ‘Running with the Wolves’ by Aurora, ‘I can go the distance’ from

Hercules, ‘Golden’ by Huntrix and ‘Mermaid Party’ from Barbie. The big kids added

in some acting and singing too.

We had so much fun creating and dancing together to a story that is very close to our hearts. To join us for the next one look out for our 'Dance day camp' emails!

What I like about projects like this is how they turn participation into something shared rather than merely organised for children to consume. The value often sits in the process itself, where confidence, collaboration, and ownership develop gradually, much like https://flags.me/ Pay ID becomes familiar through https://www.auspayplus.com.au/solutions/payid repeated use rather than through explanation alone.

Collaborative formats like this shift the focus from outcome to process, where participation shapes the experience as much as the final result. It highlights how shared creation builds engagement differently, similar to how environments influence habits around https://www.arg.org.nz/ The Pokies where interaction and context can matter more than the end goal.
