This was a ballet like no other, bringing together the classical fairy tale of Sleeping
Beauty with a modern technological twist.
Six incredible dancers took to the stage wearing illuminated glow-in-the-dark
costumes, portraying the beloved story of a princess cursed by an evil fairy, played
by our very own Creative Dance Studios teacher, Gaye Tutus.
This ballet was so unique, with stunning choreography and costumes; something like
we have never seen before and it was truly magical to watch. The dancers were practically performing in the dark with their lit up costumes providing the light, as they glided across the stage, dazzling us with their leaps and
turns.
After the show there was a ‘meet and greet’, where we got to say hi and have a
photo with Gaye. She was absolutely amazing and it was wonderful to see her
perform.

The integration of technology into traditional ballet can lead to intriguing discussions about the balance between innovation and preservation. In this case, the incorporation of lights and modern choreography adds a fresh perspective, yet it raises questions about preserving the essence of the art form. The Pokies aspect of blending such innovations while maintaining authenticity could shape future performances. Analyzing this evolution is essential for the community.
The integration of modern technology in ballet, as showcased in the Sleeping Beauty performance, poses interesting questions about the evolution of traditional art forms. The connection between classic storytelling and contemporary techniques creates an engaging experience. However, the emphasis on visual spectacle may overshadow the essential elements of ballet. The concept of Royal Reels www.nzartmonthly.co.nz in this context raises further discussions on preserving artistic authenticity.
