Benefits of dance for younger children

Dance is fun and a great social activity. Dance classes for kids are a great place they can come together and explore something they love as well as a place to fit in and feel connected with others. From the moment your child steps into a dance class, they will become more confident in their own skin, giving them the freedom to express themselves without being afraid of the reaction they might receive. They will become aware of their bodies and what they are capable of, and this can contribute to the development of their confidence.

Dance is also a creative outlet and a great source of exercise which is often overlooked and has proven to be extremely beneficial in many ways, where the skills learned can transfer into other aspects of their life as they get older.

Dance can have many physical and non-physical health benefits for kids, such as better co-ordination, agility, flexibility, and increased muscle strength. It can improve overall balance, spatial awareness and can give them greater self-esteem and motivation.

By using their brains as much as their bodies when they are concentrating and focusing on learning new dance moves, kids will enhance their cognitive ability.

Another important part of development for kids is learning that if at first you don’t succeed, try again. Being in a dance class helps them to learn this and the importance of teamwork. They will also learn patience, listening skills and to accept that it is okay not to be able to do everything the first time.

Dancing is a great way for kids to learn that it is all about the journey, not the destination.
